Alongside separating from Wirtgen Group, SMS Equipment has announced partnerships with Bomag and Cemen Tech
Wirtgen America and SMS Equipment have mutually agreed to terminate the distribution agreement for Wirtgen Group products.
As of November 30, SMS Equipment will no longer be an authorized Wirtgen Group dealer. As well, the Acheson, Alberta-based equipment dealer will no longer be a Wirtgen Group-authorized service centre after January 31, 2020, and will no longer be an authorized dealer of Wirtgen Group OEM parts after February 28, 2020.
As a Wirtgen Group dealer, SMS carries the Hamm compactor line, Vögele pavers, Wirtgen milling machines and Kleeman crushers.
The Wirtgen Group and SMS are committed to ensuring that this transition is smooth and not disruptive.
As the transition occurs, the Wirtgen Group and SMS will remain in communication to make this as seamless as possible.

SMS Equipment has more than 30 locations in Canada from coast-to-coast. With the exception of Ontario, the company was the Wirtgen dealer for all provinces.
Earlier this year, Nortrax was named the Wirtgen Group dealer for Ontario.
SMS Equipment signs new dealer agreements
Now, SMS Equipment will sell and support Bomag compaction, milling, paving and reclaiming/stabilizing equipment for roadbuilding and construction beginning December 1. Effective immediately, SMS Equipment will also sell and support Cemen Tech mobile concrete mixers, stationary concrete mixers, and cement storage silos for roadbuilding and construction.
The new dealership agreements expand SMS Equipment’s road construction product offerings across its 38-branch Canada-wide network.
