5: Unicontrol

In August, Spectra Precision signed a definitive agreement to acquire Unicontrol.  

The acquisition marries Unicontrol’s 3D machine control technologies with Spectra Precision’s Laser Positioning Product Lines.

4: Tri-City Equipment Rentals

This fall, Toromont Industries announced it had acquired the Guelph, Ontario-based Tri-City Equipment Rentals.

This acquisition expands Toromont Cat’s rental business to better serve and expand its customer base and provides a rental hub in the southwestern Ontario region.

3: Advance Construction Equipment

Equipment Ontario Incorporated acquired the majority interest of the Waterloo, Ontario-based Advance Construction Equipment in February.

Together, the two companies will service more than 16 counties throughout Ontario, from the shores of Lake Huron in the west to Peterborough County in the east with dealership locations in Elmira, Harriston, Lindsay, Listowel, Mildmay, Port Perry, Waterloo, and a future location near Alliston.

2: Diamond Z and Screen Machine

Metso signed an agreement to acquire Diamond Z and Screen Machine from the Crane Group investment company in September.

Screen Machine Industries broadens Metso’s portfolio in the North American mobile crushing and screening markets, while Diamond Z increases Metso’s offering in mobile equipment for the organic recycling markets.

1: Great West Equipment

The most popular acquisition article on equipmentjournal.com in 2024 was the acquisitions of Great West Equipment. In March, Nors announced it had reached an agreement to acquire Great West Equipment for about $150 million.

After entering the Canadian market with the acquisition of Strongco in 2020, Nors is expandedin to Western Canada with the purchase of Great West Equipment, a major construction and forestry equipment dealer with operations in the provinces of British Columbia and Yukon.
