Nor-Val Rentals acquired by Sunbelt Rentals

Nor-Val rentals joins the Sunbelt brand

The British Columbia-based Nor-Val Rentals has announced it is joining the Sunbelt Rentals team.

The rental house has more than 80 employees and several locations in the Okanagan Valley region of BC, including Vernon, Armstrong, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Oliver and Penticton.

The company rents and sells a variety of tools and equipment from handheld drills to excavators.

“The Nor-Val family would like to thank all of our customers, suppliers, friends and family for their business, loyalty and support over the last three decades,” the company said on its LinkedIn page. “We believe we have made a huge impact in this valley with our community support, and we know that will continue under the Sunbelt Rentals name.”

The company noted all its locations “will still have the amazing staff that you know and love.”

Paul and Shirley Miron along with their son Jim Clipperton opened the first Nor-Val Equipment Rentals location in Armstrong in 1994. The need for a rental store in the area allowed the company to grow quickly. Four years later, the second location opened in Vernon.

In 2020, the company introduced its new division Nor-Val Equipment Sales, which is an authorized Bobcat dealer with a focus on selling new and used equipment.

Sunbelt is part of the international equipment rental company Ashtead. The company entered the Canadian market under the Sunbelt brand in 2014 with the acquisition of a general tool business.

In Canada, Sunbelt has 129 stores and more than 2,300 employees with locations in Alberta, British Colombia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.

In 2019, Ashtead expanded into the Canadian motion picture, digital media and television equipment industries through the acquisition of William F. White.

Throughout North America and the United Kingdom, Sunbelt Rentals has more than 1,200 locations with more than 14,000 product types and more than 18,000 team members.
