JCB announces the availability of the first reduced-swing model in its X-Series crawler excavator lineup. The 245XR is the latest JCB innovation in the 22-26 ton reduced swing market.
According to JCB, the 245XR offers exceptional levels of operator comfort, stability, productivity, efficiency, and serviceability.
A compact machine that can stretch
At just 5ft 8in, the 245XR has a tail swing 40% shorter than the conventional 220X, but has many of the same features.
Also, in terms of standard reach, the 245XR comes with a 9’10” dipper arm.
JCB claims that the 245XR is highly effective for use in road construction and maintenance, utility work, urban settings and other confined worksites.
With the monoboom, this machine offers a maximum digging reach of 32’1”, with a maximum digging depth of 21’9”.
Additionally, the 245XR is offered with a choice of 24, 28 or 31-inch heavy-duty track pads. Also, an optional dozer blade is available.
Largest, quietest cab in its class
Like all JCB X-Series machines, the 245XR features a three-foot wide cab, offering 15% more cab space than the cab on the previous JS generation.
According to JCB, this is the largest—and among the most quiet—cab in its class.
Also, even though the 245XR has a compact design, it features large service doors.
In terms of seating, the standard features include an adjustable air suspended seat with mechanical lumbar support. A deluxe seat with heating and cooling, plus electric lumbar, is available as an option.
Updated CommandPlus switch packs sit to the right of the seat with a large 7” multifunction display.
Also, the X-Series cab features 11 fully-adjustable air vents, with multiple airflow modes. A large space behind the operator’s seat provides room for storage.
Climate control, a factory-fit Bluetooth radio, window blinds, refuelling pump and a tool kit come standard. However, specific climate-control features to meet the demands of individual regions are available.

Power
The 245XR is powered by a T4F compliant JCB Ecomax 448 diesel engine, delivering 173hp. The hydraulic system uses latest generation Kawasaki pumps, and a Kayaba main control valve.
Also, according to JCB, an increase in the diameter of the hydraulic hose improves flow. According to JCB, air and hydraulic filter life is 2,000 hours and oil change intervals are 500 hours.
