FAE is expanding its line of Bite Limiter-equipped forestry mulchers for excavators with the new BL5/EX/VT.

The design of this new head focusses on the efficient handling and removing of vegetation in wooded areas. Particularly, when a large shredding capacity and fast operational speed is required.

The BL5/EX/VT can mulch vegetation up to 40 cm in diameter. It is compatible with 24–36-ton excavators and has a working width of 160 cm.

The most notable feature is its rotor, equipped with Bite Limiter technology. This offers special wear-resistant steel limiters that limit the teeth’s reach, cutting down on power demand and promoting a consistent working speed that results in excellent performance when mulching any kind of wood. Also, according to FAE, the Bite Limiter technology minimizes rotor stalling and optimizes fuel consumption.

The BL5/EX/VT has a Variable Torque motor that, FAE claims, delivers noticeably better performance, increasing torque when needed, minimizing rotor stalling.

Customers can equip this attachment with FAE’s Sonic system, keeping the carrier and the mulcher in sync with automatic calibration.

The Sonic system continuously manages the mulcher’s hydraulic settings, and, according to FAE, boosts productivity by up to 30%.

Also, the Sonic system minimizes rotor stalling and shortens recovery time due to quick recovery of the rotor’s rpm.

Additionally, customers can equip this head with a hydraulic thumb to facilitate the handling of ground material.

The addition of the BL5/EX/VT completes FAE’s line of Bite Limiter-equipped forestry mulchers for excavators. Now, the range goes from 4 tons, with the BL1/EX, up to 36 tons, with this newest machine.
