Ritchie Bros. group president resigns

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers has announced Greg Owens, the group president of New Sectors and Ventures is resigning from the business to pursue other opportunities.

Owens’ resignation is effective as of July 27. Before taking on the role of group president, he served as the chairman and CEO of IronPlanet Inc.

In May of 2017, Ritchie Bros. finalized the acquisition of online acution company IronPlanet, after announcing the deal the previous summer.

“I am very proud to have been a part of the team and helping to build such a strong company,” Owens said. “Ritchie Bros. has successfully integrated IronPlanet into the business and has clearly demonstrated that they are the industry leader in both on site and online marketplaces.”

In his current role , Owens provided the overall leadership for the strategic relationship with Caterpillar and also lead both Kruse Energy and GovPlanet.

Prior to joining Iron Planet, Owens served as managing director at Red Zone Capital, chairman and chief executive officer of Manugistics Group, Inc. and was a founding member of Accenture’s supply chain group.
