Landscape Ontario Congress is returning for its 45th edition, and we have free VIP admission.

This year’s show takes place Jan. 9 to 11 at the Toronto Congress Centre in Etobicoke, Ont.

Landscape Ontario Congress is Canada’s premier green industry trade show and conference, with more than 600 multinational vendors and 1,300 exhibitors covering eight acres of floor space. Last year, the show welcomed about 13,500 landscape professionals to the event.

Landscape Ontario Congress is also co-located with Fencecraft, a show-within-a-show, owned by the Canadian Fence Industry Association. Visitors can explore some of the nation’s leading wholesalers and manufacturers of fence products and related services.

As well, the show includes more than 50 hours of educational sessions providing visitors with numerous opportunities for professional development and skills training.

The diversity of the industry requires specific knowledge that can be found at the various sector group conferences held on Monday, Jan. 8. ​Educational seminars held include:

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Symposium

7:30 a.m. in the Cohen Ballroom

Guests will earn six continuing education credits while learning from top researchers and professionals in the turf grass sector. Speakers include Jennifer Llewellyn B.Sc., M.Sc.; Michael Brownbridge Ph.D.; Jim Chatfield BS, MS; James Garriss III; Kellie Sherman B.Sc.; and Scott Olan B.Sc.

Landscape Designer Conference

8:30 a.m. at the Delta Hotel Toronto Airport  

Add innovative design ideas and battle-tested selling strategies to your toolbox from some of the best landscape designers and landscape architects from across North America, including James Garfield Thompson B.Sc., OALA, CSLA, SOUL; Randy Tumber APLD, CLD, CHT; Jan Johnsen; Aprille Janes CPCC; and Ellen Ecker Ogden.

Peer to Peer Workshop

Jacki Hart leads an interactive workshop geared towards making attendees a better leader and decision maker.

Congress Conference

Runs concurrent with trade show on Jan. 9 to 11

There are a variety of options over three days with conference sessions at Congress from entertaining Life Lessons at Lunch, to the Owner’s Only Workshops. Content covers business development topics for several industry sectors and levels of involvement. Some of the highlights are keynotes by economist Charlie Hall B.S, M.S., Ph.D.; Canadian Olympic hockey gold medalists Becky Kellar and Cheryl Pounder and Owners Only Workshops run by business gurus Mark Bradley, Ron Rosenberg, Bill Arman and Ed Laflamme CLP.

Garden Centre Symposium

Jan. 10 at 9 a.m.

Join strategist David Coletto to learn about hiring in the millennial market and the art of selling to millennials. Also included will be the Awards of Excellence ceremony announcing the winners in the Retail and Growers programs.
