AMI Attachments is celebrating 25 years in business, a milestone the Canadian manufacturer says is built on strong relationships, hard work and a commitment to quality and innovation.
What started as a small, dedicated team has grown into an equipment attachment manufacturer serving customers across North America.
“This milestone really belongs to our whole team,” said Steve Frey, Owner and CEO of AMI Attachments. “The pride our employees take in their work and the way they show up for each other every day is what built AMI over the last 25 years.”
Frey started Agway Manufacturing Inc. (AMI) in 2001, in southwestern Ontario. He was soon asked to build a bucket for a Case 580 backhoe. From there, the company began to build a reputation for its buckets and by 2004, Agway Manufacturing Inc. was producing attachments for excavators under the name AMI Attachments.
Today, AMI’s growth continues with the expansion of its operations, including the addition of a second manufacturing facility to support increasing demand and future opportunities. Driven by sustained growth in customer demand and a workforce that includes about 200 employees, the new facility in Elmira, Ontario, was developed to support increased welding capacity while providing additional space for key teams.
The second facility compliments AMI’s 100,000 square foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Hawkesville, Ontario.
“Expanding our operations with a second facility is an important step, but it’s really about making sure we can continue to support our customers and our dealers as we grow,” Frey said.
The 25th anniversary was celebrated in July as employees from across the organization gathered for a company-wide town hall and celebration barbecue. The event was an opportunity to reflect on how far AMI has come and recognize the people who made it possible.
Over the years, AMI has earned a reputation for its attachments designed to perform in demanding applications. At the same time, the company has stayed grounded in the values that shaped its early days — respect, a commitment to quality and a focus on innovation.
“Everything we design is focused on helping operators be as productive as possible and getting the job done right. We’re investing in our people, our processes and our future, and that’s what will carry us into the next 25 years,” Frey said.
As AMI looks ahead, the company plans to remain focused on innovation, strengthening partnerships and delivering premium, high-quality attachments that help shape the world.
The 25th anniversary will be recognized throughout the year with a series of initiatives celebrating employees, engaging customers and dealers and reinforcing AMI’s connection to the communities it serves.
