Ponsee introduces new 8-wheeled Cobra harvester

Ponsee cobra harvester

Ponsee is expanding its roster of harvesters with the introduction of the Cobra.

The new Ponsee Cobra is an adaptable eight-wheel all-round machine with an extensive range of equipment, making a variety of cutting and work methods possible.

The Cobra includes a Tier 4 Final 281 hp Mercedes Benz, six-cylinder engine and a high-performance hydraulics system powered by a 2.1 cubic metre working pump, and a robust and thoroughly tested structure. As well, the Cobra’s transmission delivers advanced handling and machine control, particularly in uneven terrain and on steep slopes.

The 19,800-kg harvester features a 60-cm ground clearance and a maximum crane reach of 11 metres, when equipped with the C44+ crane.

The crane is located on the rear bogie, which improves the harvester’s balance.

With 8 wheels, the Cobra delivers advanced stability and tractive force when working on steep slopes and in otherwise challenging terrain. At the same time, the low surface pressure guarantees the Cobra continues to progress, even when the terrain is soft.

Cobra Heads

A broad harvester head range is available for the Cobra, including the H5 for thinning-based harvesting or H6 or H7 for regeneration felling.

The new Cobra harvester was introduced at the Great Lakes Logging and Heavy Equipment Logging Congress September 5-7 Escanaba, Michigan. At the event, Ponsee also introduced its new Active Crane system for loader control.

The Ponsee Active Crane offers a new method of controlling the loader and boosting work. It is an innovation that the driver uses to control the grapple movement instead of individual functions, allowing the driver to concentrate on loader work.

The Active Crane is easy to control using two control levers, one of which controls the grapple height from the ground and the other the direction of movement.

With Active Crane, the driver does not need to control all the functions simultaneously. When the desired grapple location is specified for the machine, the system performs the lifting, folding and extending operations automatically. The new products are part of the Boost/Save approach aimed at enabling customers to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
