Trimble has announced the release of the Earthworks GO! Grade Control Platform.
Earthworks GO! is a 2D grade control solution for compact machine grading attachments that enables high-accuracy grading in an easy-to-use, portable platform.
It is the only bring-your-own-device (BYOD) compact machine control solution available on both Android or iOS smartphones.
The announcement was made at the Trimble Dimensions international user conference held in Las Vegas on Nov. 6.
“Trimble is proud to once again introduce groundbreaking construction technology,” said Scott Crozier, general manager of Trimble Civil Engineering and Construction. “Trimble Earthworks GO! is the first BYOD compact machine control solution on the market. It makes grade control technology affordable and easy to use for contractors.”
Trimble Earthworks GO! can be used by contractors involved in general construction, site preparation and utility work for grading flat and simple slopes. The system uses laser technology to provide real-time position information that allows the operator to grade or cut profiles quickly and accurately.

The platform requires little training time and may increase an operator’s productivity by up to 20 per cent, according to Trimble.
At the core of the system is the Earthworks GO! software that guides the user through installation, setup and operating modes. The software is specifically designed for local small site contractors and owner-operators.
Earthworks GO! Box
Android and iOS compatibility allows operators to use their smartphone as the primary machine interface.
Trimble’s proprietary GO! Box enables full sensing technology with no mounting hardware needed. Contractors can save machine profiles to the GO! Box to ensure the grading attachment only needs to be set up once. This innovative capability makes it quick and easy to move the system between machines.
Grade Control V1.7
Trimble announced today the release of version 1.7 of its Earthworks Grade Control Platform, with support for motor graders and automatic guidance for tiltrotator attachments.
Earthworks for motor graders is a GNSS-based, 3D grade control solution designed to improve grading accuracy and ease. As well, platform now gives excavator operators using tiltrotators the advantage of automatic machine control, which may result in increased productivity.
“The introduction of the motor grader into the Trimble Earthworks platform completes the family of earthmoving machines,” Crozier said. “Now contractors can realize even faster ROI, more uptime and increased portability across their fleet of heavy equipment.”
Earthworks for motor graders
Earthworks for motor graders leverages Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor technology in combination with GNSS for increased accuracy and stability in fine grading applications.
Operators will enjoy the same Trimble software available for excavators and dozers.
Automatic guidance for tiltrotators
When tiltrotators are used with Earthworks for excavators, the bucket position and orientation are always visible regardless of bucket rotation. The operator can see the height and the rotation relative to the design, so the attachment can be more efficient.
Now, Trimble can automate the tilt functions of a tiltrotator to enable operators of all skill levels to be significantly more productive when using these attachments.
