Following the American announcement that the country plans to impose tariffs on steel products from the European Union and its NAFTA partners, Canada has retaliated with its own tariffs on American products.
The list includes numerous American steel products that will face a 25 per cent tariff.
As well, various American-born household goods from lawnmowers to toilet paper to whiskey will see the addition of a 10 per cent tariff.
Canada plans to implement its countermeasures on July 1. The government is also inviting Canadians to submit comments on the proposed tariffs by June 15. (Click here for more info).

Steel products facing a 25 per cent tariff include:
- Iron and non-alloy steel in ingots or other primary forms.
- Semi-finished products of iron or non-alloy steel.
- Flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, of a width of 600 mm or more, hot-rolled, not clad, plated or coated.
- Flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, of a width of 600 mm or more, cold-rolled (cold-reduced), not clad, plated or coated.
