The Independent Equipment Dealers Association (IEDA) recently held its annual meeting and expo in Orlando where Kevin Fox of the Ontario-based Dewitt Equipment Company was honoured for his leadership and service.
Fox was the first Canadian nominated to the role of IEDA president in 2016, after serving for a year as director and then the following year as vice president.
Fox has held the role of IEDA president for the past three years, and will now hold the role of IEDA past president, an active role in the organization.
“Kevin has been a great asset to the IEDA in the last five years, and his level-headed approach to problem solving and decision making bodes well around the boardroom table,” said IEDA executive director Kristen Williams.
“I have learned a great deal from Kevin during his tenure with the board, and look forward to his continued insight in his role as past president.”

The IEDA is a support network for independent used heavy equipment dealers worldwide, and Fox’s experience in the heavy equipment industry made him a great candidate to serve on the IEDA board of directors.
Fox began his career in the equipment business as a contractor. He started with Case Power & Equipment in 1982, where he worked as a sales rep for 18 years. In 2000, he joined a local Caterpillar dealer as a tractor sales rep and worked his way to the role of branch manager for Orillia and Peterborough.
IEDA legacy
Through the years, Fox developed a reputation for integrity and straight dealing. In 2011, he left Cat to join Matt Dewitt and start Dewitt Equipment Company.
“We found and joined the IEDA with the express intent of safeguarding our new business and our customers,” Dewitt said. “The IEDA has provided us with a vetted, professional network of quality equipment dealers across the United States, Canada and overseas.”
During Kevin’s service and time spent with the IEDA, the group enhanced both of its online websites at iedaused.com and iedagroup.com. The IEDA exhibited for the first time at ConExpo in 2017, and will plan to exhibit at the industry conference again in 2020.
In addition, the association added a Sponsor Level Affiliate program in 2017, allowing OEM dealers and auction companies to affiliate with the group at a formal level, and has since brought on fourteen sponsor level companies.
Moving into 2019, Luke Brenner with Heavy Equipment Co. will take the role of IEDA president as Kevin Fox takes the role of past president. Fox will continue to participate in board meetings and decision making throughout 2019.
