Husqvarna Group’s construction division has announced it has acquired Wacker Neuson’s concrete power trowel business.

Wacker Neuson develops and produces trowels in North America, which represented the company’s largest market for the products.

The company decided to sell its trowel product line in order to focus on core products, namely compact equipment and compaction equipment.

“Our Strategy 2022 puts our customers at the heart of everything we do,” said Martin Lehner, CEO of Wacker Neuson.

“Sharpening our focus on core competencies and products enables us to offer our customers premium quality and outstanding service solutions. In line with our strategic pillar of ‘focus’, which aims to optimize our portfolio of competitive construction equipment.”

Husqvarna Group is acquiring all the product, research and development and manufacturing assets relating to walk-behind and ride-on concrete power trowels. Sales in the power trowel segment in 2018 reached about CDN$20.3 million.

“Power trowels complement our current range in a great way, connecting the entire process from ground compaction to polished concrete floors, and fits well into our divisional strategy to grow our Concrete Surfaces and Floors business. With the addition of the ride-on trowels we will now have a complete offering for concrete surfacing and polishing which will add great value to our customers,” said Henric Andersson, president of the Husqvarna construction division.

A Husqvarna product range will be launched early in 2020. As part of the agreement, Husqvarna Group will in parallel manufacture power trowels on Wacker Neuson’s behalf.

“Our existing concrete power trowel customers will receive the same level of service and support as they experienced in the past,” says Alexander Greschner, CSO of Wacker Neuson.

“We are and will remain a reliable partner for our customers in the concrete sector.”

Wacker Neuson will continue to offer trowels as part of its product range throughout 2020 within the framework of an OEM agreement with Husqvarna and will continue to supply spare parts and services to its customers beyond that.

The group’s business with concrete internal and external vibrators remains unaffected by the sale and Wacker Neuson continues to be a market and innovation leader in this field.
