HD Hyundai Construction Equipment has opened its first parts distribution facility in Canada.
The new warehouse is located in the Expeditors International facility in Mississauga, Ontario. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America, will lead the operation, with initial staffing through Expeditors Canada.
On June 10, HD Hyundai representatives and dealers gathered onsite to commemorate the opening of the new parts centre, which represents the first step towards establishing a corporate entity in Canada.
“This is a huge day for HD Hyundai Construction Equipment,” said Choi Cheol-gon, CEO of HD Hyundai Construction Equipment.
“With the addition of this new parts warehouse, we aim to further enhance our support for your business.”
By the end of the year, the parts distribution centre will be able to provide Hyundai CE’s Canadian customers with about 80 per cent of their parts requirements while reducing shipping cost and time by about 30 per cent.
“At HD Hyundai, we believe our dealers are key to our success,” Cheol-gon said. “Our goal is to make you proud to represent Hyundai and to strengthen the association with our name.”
Stan Park, President of HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America, echoed his appreciation for the company’s Canadian dealer network. HD Hyundai currently serves its Canadian customers through its network of 17 dealers with 33 locations coast to coast.
“We wouldn’t be able to be here without the dealers,” Park said.
In recent years, the Canadian market has grown to represent nearly 16 per cent of Hyundai CE’s North American business. Globally, North America represent between 18 per cent to 20 per cent of the company’s business.
“We made really good progress in Canada,” Park explained. “Canada does offer the highest potential to grow. So, this is a baby step that we are making today. To become a real player in Canada, we must have parts support.”
Gordon Plotkin, Regional Director, Canada, for HD Hyundai Construction Equipment, noted the new parts centre is an important milestone in enhancing the Hyundai CE brand’s visibility in Canada.
“Somebody once told me that the difference between zero and one is much greater than the difference between one and everything that follows. And today is one,” Plotkin said.
