The 90-tonne EC950F crawler excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment will be introduced to the North American market at ConExpo in March.
Equipped with a 603 hp Volvo D16 Tier 4 Final engine that delivers high torque at low rpm, the machine is designed for fast and efficient on-site production.
Pairing the EC950F with the Volvo A60H articulated hauler is where customers can realize productivity potential. The EC950F fills the 60-ton, 33.6 cubic metre haul truck in just four bucket passes, with an average cycle time of 20 to 25 seconds.
The EC950F crawler excavator is one of many new machines Volvo CE will introduce at ConExpo in Las Vegas this March.
Volvo’s optimized hydraulics
Volvo’s optimized hydraulics deliver constant high pressures across each phase of the digging and lifting cycle.
As well, the hydraulic system increases pump power for fast and smooth operation, while the electro-hydraulic system controls on-demand flow and reduces internal losses in the hydraulic circuit.
The EC950F also comes with a boom-swing priority valve, which adjusts the priority of hydraulic flow between boom-up and swing so that truck loading cycle times can be set to truck loading working conditions.
Volvo’s unique ECO Mode helps the EC950F achieve outstanding fuel efficiency while the integrated work mode allows operators to choose the best work mode for the task at hand: select from I (Idle), F (Fine), G (General) and H (Heavy).
Attachment management
To boost machine versatility, the attachment management system can store settings for up to 20 different attachments, enabling the operator to pre-set hydraulic flow and pressure through the in-cab monitor.
The machine features a wide track gauge, long track length and retractable undercarriage, with an optimized counterweight which can be removed for ease of transportation.
Smart features such as the optional Dig Assist – powered by Volvo Co-Pilot – assist the operator in digging more efficiently. The low-noise and spacious cab, featuring straight travel pedal, further boost comfort.

For added visibility, the EC950F comes fitted with
rearview camera and can be equipped with Volvo Smart View, which provides 360-degree
vision.
Convenience and safety are enhanced thanks to a large entrance, including high
visibility handrails and conveniently positioned steps, as well as anti-slip
plates. The optional FOG (Falling Object Guard) and FOPS (Falling Object
Protective Structure) provide further peace-of-mind when working in tough
applications.
Machine protection is provided by features that include a heavy-duty boom and arm, strong frame structure, heavy-duty underside plate and floating pins on the bucket connection, as well as optional full-length track guard.
For a prolonged bucket lifespan, Volvo offers a range of wear parts. To cut downtime to a minimum, the new Volvo Tooth System enables teeth changes in minutes: simply place, push and click. Essential maintenance points are easily accessed via the wide-opening and conveniently located compartment doors using central and surrounding walkways.
ActiveCare Direct from Volvo
The EC950F is eligible for ActiveCare Direct, free for a year, on new purchases. The Volvo remote telematics service provides 24/7/365 active machine monitoring and fleet utilization reporting directly from Volvo.
If a machine requires attention, Volvo communicates directly with your local dealer so they can respond quickly. In addition, customers receive a report to identify areas to improve worksite efficiency, avoid unplanned downtime, and catch problems before they occur.
