Snorkel launches OnSite telematics & shows off 2100SJ at The ARA Show

At the 2021 iteration of The ARA Show, Snorkel arranged its largest display ever, covering 6,400 sq. ft.

Inside, it showcased two lithium-electric products, the SL26RTE Speed Level and the SR5719E telehandler. Also on display inside were the 460SJ telescopic boom lift and S4740E electric slab scissor lift.

Outside, Snorkel showed off the new upgrades added to its monstrous 216-foot 2100SJ telescopic boom lift.

Also, during the show, the company took the opportunity to launch and promote its new telematics system, OnSite.

Same monster, new upgrades

One of the world’s largest self-propelled aerial lifts, the Snorkel 2100SJ was originally previewed at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in March of 2020. However, the latest model, displayed at The ARA Show, includes a number of upgrades. These include a greater forward reach—now 115 ft. (35.1m)—as well as improved ground clearance and remote secondary controls, which enable the operator to freely move around the platform and face the working area when positioning at height.

The Snorkel 2100SJ delivers a maximum working height of 216 ft. (66.0m), has a 30 ft. (9.1m) jib boom and a working envelope volume of 7.11 million ft3 (0.2 million m³).

Additionally, the 2100SJ features five-steering modes, including lateral steer, which enables side-to-side movement with the wheels in a 90° position.

According to Snorkel, this lift features a best-in-class inside turning radius of 8 ft. 6 in. (2.6m) with the axles extended.

Also, it has multiple patent-pending design features, including a secondary control pendant in the platform, allowing the operator to face the direction of travel for precise positioning at height.

New OnSite telematics system

At the ARA Show 2021, Snorkel announced the global launch of its new telematics offering, Snorkel OnSite.

Powered by Trackunit, Snorkel OnSite is a full-service telematics offering that is available on most current Snorkel mobile elevating work platforms and telehandlers, many of which are now telematics-ready, featuring a compatible connection for the telematics module.

Available globally, Snorkel customers can add OnSite as an option at the time of ordering. However, customers can also order for field-installation by a Snorkel dealer or service center.

Snorkel offers a choice of telematics subscriptions, including a Direct Data and API package that can feed data from Snorkel lifts directly into a customer’s existing telematics dashboard. Also available is a Data and Dashboard package, which includes access to a Trackunit branded dashboard. Here, customers can access Snorkel machine data, as well as feed in other products from other brands.

Additionally, subscription packages are available in 24-month or 60-month options. An optional access keypad with RFID capabilities is also available.

“Trackunit is one of the leading telematics providers for our industry, and we are very pleased to have partnered with them to develop this solution for our customers” said Matthew Elvin, CEO, Xtreme Manufacturing & Snorkel. “In line with our keep it simple approach, we focused on making it easy for our customers to access all of their fleet data in one place, either through the Trackunit dashboard, or by using API’s to feed the data into their existing telematics tools. This maximizes the usability of the data to the customer, as they can see everything in one place.”
