Sany recently released an updated version of its SY50U excavator, which promises to cover a wider range of working conditions than previous models.
The new SY50U excavator is designed to meet higher requirements in urban construction, agricultural application and landscaping.
“The SY50U’s zero tail swing radius and independent boom swing allow it to operate in extremely confined spaces. Its maximum right boom swing distance is 710 mm, while the left one is 745 mm, meaning it can work near a wall corner without frequently moving the machine,” said Tan Xin, one of the designers of the SY50U.
As well, the 5-ton SY50U adopts a 42 hp Yanmar, Tier 4 engine, advanced SLSS hydraulic system, optimal power control and work mode selection, which improves speed and power while reducing fuel consumption.
According to Sany, data from field trials shows that SY50U excavator reduces fuel consumption by 15 per cent and improves efficiency by 14.2 per cent, when compared to previous models.
For operators working in low-temperature environment, the SY50U is specially designed with automatic engine preheating. This enables the SY50U to be used in environments where the temperature drops lower than 15 degrees below zero.

The Sany excavator has a maximum dig depth of 246 cm and a maximum dumping height of 380 cm.
User-friendly
To improve the operator experience, the SY50U is designed with broad view, adjustable seat and air conditioner.
For maintenance, the excavator is equipped with large engine hood, which is easily opened and enables the operator to complete daily maintenance on the ground.
The machine’s centralized inner structure integrates all key parts gathered in the back of the excavator, including air filter, oil filter, water separator, oil dipstick, expansion tank and oil filling mouth, greatly reduces maintenance difficulty.
As well, a detachable radiator screen is another feature that make scheduled maintenance more convenient.
