Metso Outotec is expanding its Nordtrack range with the introduction of a new mobile crusher and screen.

Based on customer feedback, Metso Outotec has created the Nordtrack I908 mobile impact crusher and the Nordtrack S2.5 mobile screen.

The two new machines build upon the Nordtrack range, which was introduced in 2019.

Nordtrack, which now includes 21 machines, was created to fill the small to medium sized machine gap in the Metso Outotec’s lineup, and provide solutions for the construction and demolition waste market.

“I am very pleased to say that the Nordtrack range has been extremely well-received by our customers,” said Vesa Tuloisela, who leads the Nordtrack segment at Metso Outotec. “It has proven to be a flexible solution meeting different requirements. Nordtrack sales have been developing very well despite the pandemic; in fact, we have exceeded sales targets in some areas. However, we are always listening carefully to customer feedback. These two new products represent a concrete outcome of those discussions.”

Nordtrack I908

The Nordtrack I908 mobile impact crusher is designed for smaller-sized material reduction job sites. Available with a wide variety of impact hammers, the machine accepts different kinds of feed material, from asphalt recycling to concrete crushing, as well as traditional rock crushing.

“Nordtrack is all about flexibility. The units have been designed so one unit can be used in so many ways, just by changing the settings and configurations,” Tuloisela said.

Designed for the recycling contractor, Tuloisela explained the crusher fits into Metso Outotec’s sustainability goals.

“Recycling is a megatrend. Governments everywhere are pushing for different solutions to tackle emissions levels. One method is the use of recyclable aggregates,” he said. “And using demolition waste, instead of naturally excavated rock, is clearly cheaper.”

The I908 impact crusher is powered by a 252 hp Tier 4 Final Volvo D8 engine.

The machine is equipped with a feed opening of 86 cm by 65 cm. The feed size, dependent on the material and blowbar selection, measures 60 cm by 50 cm by 50 cm, and delivers a hopper capacity of 2.8 cubic metres.

The Nordtrack I908 also features main and product conveyors that are 90-cm wide, as well as a 40-cm radial re-circulating conveyor and an optional 50-cm side conveyor.

The impact crusher weighs 23.6 tonnes, and measures 2.5-metres wide by 3-metres high by 9.3-metres long.

Its size also assists with noise reduction, while water sprayers control dust.

“It’s so cost effective to transport on standard trailers, the setup time is quick and its agile to move on sites with tight spaces,” Tuloisela said.

The Nordtrack I908 is the same base as the I908S, however the I908 does not include an integrated screen. Since its introduction in 2019, the I908S has become one of the most popular Nordtrack units.

“(The I908) is an impact crusher for when there’s no need for the added screen. Therefor, it comes with less investment needed,” Tuloisela said. “It’s as powerful and versatile as our I908S, but sometimes the screen is just not needed.”

The I908 includes a magnetic separator for scrap metal removal, and the machine is controlled by the crusher automation panel that monitors the system.

“It is so easy to use, even I could do it,” Tuloisela said.

Nordtrack S2.5

The Nordtrack S2.5 mobile screen is a small size, versatile scalping screen designed for small job sites and a variety of applications.

With a compact and light-weight structure, a two-deck screen and a variety of different screening media, it is ideal for construction contractors with frequent changes in site locations or simply as a rental unit.

Powered by a 131 hp Cat C4.4 engine, the Nordtrack S2.5 weighs 23 tonnes and can handle up to 450 tonnes per hour.

“A very compact size means an attractive price point,” Tuloisela said. “All the same applies  about transportability, moving around the site and low noise levels, but he hopper is actually quite big to accept high volumes being fed.”

The S2.5 features a hopper capacity of 6 cubic metres and a top deck that measures 3.7 metres by 1.4 metres and a bottom deck that measures 3.5 metres by 1.4 metres.

A wide range of screen media is available, including a punch plate, plate grizzly/bofor bar, heavy duty fingers and woven screen mesh. The screen angle and stroke may be changed according to the application.

A belt feeder is standard, while an apron feeder is available as an option.

When Metso Outotec launched the Nordtrack range in 2019, the lineup included small to mid-size crushers, mobile screens, conveyors and a wide track jaw crusher designed for the North American market.

“Conveyors were viewed as a critical add-on as they increased the connectivity of mobile equipment, reducing the process limitations,” said Adrian Wood, vice president of global distribution for Metso Outotec.

To date, Nordtrack has recorded strong development in Canada, Germany, Russia, South Africa and parts of the United States.

“The I908S has been the stand out product, for me anyways,” Wood said. “It’s enabled us into a market that we weren’t in.”
