Tervita Corporation has rented eight Volvo EC250E excavators from Strongco for onsite remediation and reclamation work at about 200 abandoned oil and gas well sites in Central Alberta.
Strongco announced the deal with Tervita, a Calgary-based environmental solutions provider, in September. The excavators are complete with wrist buckets and hydraulic thumbs and will be used on behalf of a high-profile natural resources client.

Poke added the level of product support provided through the company, and its preventative maintenance package, was also important to minimize downtime while maximizing machine use.
“We’re extremely pleased with the Volvo CareTrack system, which is highly intuitive and provides in-depth information on utilization, idling operator behaviours and fuel consumption on a daily basis across multiple locations,” Poke said.
Previous Strongco purchases
In addition to the newly acquired units, Tervita currently owns four Volvo crawler excavators, previously purchased through Strongco, which are equipped with shears and multiple articulated haulers.
