Tervita Corporation has rented eight Volvo EC250E excavators from Strongco for onsite remediation and reclamation work at about 200 abandoned oil and gas well sites in Central Alberta.

Strongco announced the deal with Tervita, a Calgary-based environmental solutions provider, in September. The excavators are complete with wrist buckets and hydraulic thumbs and will be used on behalf of a high-profile natural resources client.

“At Tervita, our specialized site remediation and reclamation expertise is put to the test every day, and we’re always looking for exceptional value and ROI,” said Steve Poke, director of equipment at Tervita. “The Volvo excavators have a competitive advantage when it comes to safety, reliability and fuel economy.”

Poke added the level of product support provided through the company, and its preventative maintenance package, was also important to minimize downtime while maximizing machine use.

“We’re extremely pleased with the Volvo CareTrack system, which is highly intuitive and provides in-depth information on utilization, idling operator behaviours and fuel consumption on a daily basis across multiple locations,” Poke said.

Previous Strongco purchases

In addition to the newly acquired units, Tervita currently owns four Volvo crawler excavators, previously purchased through Strongco, which are equipped with shears and multiple articulated haulers.

“Our extensive range of products and capabilities allows us to match their expectations for the highest level of quality, while meeting the exacting demands of this progressive industry,” said Dave MacLeod, Alberta key account manager of construction equipment at Strongco.

Strongco Corporation is a major multiline mobile equipment dealer. The company sells, rents and services equipment used in diverse sectors such as construction, infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, utilities, municipalities, waste management and forestry. Strongco has about 500 employees serving customers from 26 branches across Canada.

Tervita offers integrated earth, water, waste and resource solutions to deliver safe and efficient results through all phases of a project.
