The Mecalac Group will take over production of a range of compact wheel loaders, currently being manufactured by the French company Pichon.

The Pichon company, which specializes in the design and manufacturing of agricultural equipment, based in Brittany, France, will cease production of the compact wheel loader range of machines to concentrate on its core business: agricultural machines dedicated to the transport and spreading of liquid and solid materials.

The range of six wheel loaders, from 26 to 75 hp, will complement Mecalac’s existing range of wheel loaders, manufactured by its German-based manufacturing plant Mecalac Baumaschinen, a subsidiary of the Mecalac Group.

The compact wheel loaders will be distributed under the Mecalac brand, through the company’s worldwide dealer network. This will take place during 2019, following an engine upgrade to a Stage V engine.

With the addition, Mecalac becomes one of the largest suppliers of compact wheel loaders in the market.

At the same time the Mecalac Group and the Pichon company have reached an agreement under which the wheel loaders will be distributed with the colour branding and under the brand name Pichon, allowing the company to maintain its business in the agriculture sector.

Pichon is a family-owned company with more than 45 years of experience in the design, manufacture, and service of agricultural machinery and handling equipment.

The agreement which allows the Pichon company to continue its development in the agriculture sector, with a technically upgraded range of machines whilst also allowing the Mecalac Group to expand its product offer.

Pichon’s latest compact wheel loader was introduced last year. The 45.75 series telescopic loader is equipped with a DEUTZ 75 hp 4-cylinder engine, equipped with diesel oxidation catalyst for exhaust gas reprocessing.

The hydrostatic transmission includes 2 ranges of speed. The hydraulic motor is powered by a Bosch Rexroth variable displacement pump. The width of the loader does not exceed two metres and its lifting height reaches 4.5 metres.
