York1 has acquired the Rexdale, Ontario-based waste bin provider First Choice Disposal.
The acquisition aims to enhance York1’s service offerings and strengthen its waste collection and recycling presence in the Greater Toronto Area.
First Choice Disposal will expand York1’s capabilities, increasing its roll-off waste collection and recycling capacity in Southern Ontario by nearly 30 per cent. The integration brings more waste and recyclables into its growing network of processing facilities, enhancing the company’s ability to deliver comprehensive, reliable services to a broader customer base.

With 16 years of experience in the waste disposal business, First Choice Disposal provides on-call disposal services. Joining the York1 fold will allow the business to leverage multiple offerings both in the infrastructure and environmental space.
First Choice Disposal sought a partner to continue its legacy and identified York1 as the ideal choice.
The acquisition is expected to benefit both companies’ customers and employees, ensuring continuity of service and creating new opportunities for growth and innovation.
In the past two years, York1 has achieved a remarkable expansion, more than doubling the capacity of its waste division.
Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, York1 has been in business for more than 70 years, and provides environmental services to both public and private sectors. The company employs more than 800 people and won more than 2,000 pieces of equipment. With more than 1,500 clients across Ontario, York1 has diverted more than 3.85 million tonnes of waste from landfills.
