Volvo Construction Equipment is launching its EC750E high-reach excavator to the North American market.
The EC750E HR can reach up to 36 metres high and is capable of handling up to 3,629 kg tools, making it the largest high-reach excavator offered by Volvo.
The new EC750E HR can also be easily reconfigured using extensions and different boom sets to become a multi-use demolition tool.
“The EC750E HR is based on our popular EC750E crawler excavator, but has been substantially re-engineered for high-reach deconstruction purposes with a heavier and wider undercarriage and factory-fitted guarding,” said Walter Reeves, sales manager for demolition products at Volvo Construction Equipment.
“The features on this machine give it the power, stability and versatility contractors need to tackle some of the most challenging, large-scale demolition projects.”
Volvo’s patented hydraulic modular joint concept uses a two-pin hydraulic lock mechanism to allow the high reach to be changed into a digging configuration with only one person in less than 60 minutes.
The EC750E HR also has a second hydraulic modular joint on the extension boom, allowing the angle of both the extension and the digging boom to be set quickly and safely between bent and straight configurations. The high-reach machine is powered by a Volvo Tier 4 Final 381 hp engine.
Three boom options
The EC750E HR is available with two high-reach demolition boom sets and one digging boom set with an extension:
- High-reach boom with a 36-metre maximum pin height while carrying a tool of up to 3,629 kg.
- High-reach boom with a 26-metre maximum pin height while carrying a tool of up to 4,990 kg.
- Digging boom set with a 4.39-metre extension allows for an 18-metre pin height.

Demolition specific undercarriage
Compared to the EC750E, the undercarriage of the EC750E HR is 53 cm longer and 86 cm wider to improve upon stability. The hydraulic extendable undercarriage also allows for a 360-degree working range, which allows the operator to spend less time repositioning the machine and remain focused on the job.

The retractable undercarriage features easy-to-remove track frames and the ability to self-disassemble and reassemble, which makes transporting the EC750E high-reach an easy process, according to Volvo CE. A strengthened hydraulic removal system also allows the complete counterweight to be removed in one movement.
EC750E high-reach specs
- Machine weight (without tool): 100,244 kg.
- Maximum pin height boom 1/2: 36 metres/26 metres.
- Maximum tool weight: 3,629 kg/4,990 kg.
- Maximum tool weight dig boom: 12,320 kg, 12.2 metres max reach at grade.
Maximum tool weight dig boom with extension: 6,810 kg, 16.35 metres max reach at grade. To improve visibility, Volvo equipped the high-reach excavator with a large area of laminated glazing for clear sight lines of the working area.
As well, the cab of the high-reach machine tilts 30 degrees to reduce operator strain and fatigue. The EC750E HR is also fitted with a standard dust suppression system and a camera on the demolition arm, which delivers images to the in-cab display.
