This was an eventful year for Bobcat. Throughout 2019, the company introduced numerous new machines, announce a plan to reinvent the compact equipment segment and acquired a manufacturer with a very similar name.

5Bobcat’s new small articulated loader

Bobcat is entering a new equipment size class with the introduction of its small articulated loader, or SAL for short.

The compact equipment manufacturer will introduce two models of the SAL, the L23 and L28. The machines are expected to hit the market in early 2020.

4Bobcat’s biggest excavator to date

At Bobcat’s new training centre in Aurora, Colorado, the company announced the E145 excavator, which is nearly twice the size as the company’s previous machine to hold the title as its largest excavator.

As a 14 tonne reduced tail swing machine, the E145 excavator is a significant step up in size for the compact equipment manufacturer. Previously, the 8 tonne E85 was the largest excavator in the Bobcat lineup.

3Bobcat outlines plan to reinvent the compact equipment industry

Bobcat’s new “Next is Now” philosophy is guiding the company’s direction to renewing what the company stands for, as well as its plan to reinvent compact equipment.

Going forward, the company is promising to introduce numerous new products, attachments and technology.

“There’s this defined square that says, ‘this is compact equipment.’ So, we say, ‘who defined that?’ We’re the ones that created it 61 years ago,” said Scott Park, CEO of Doosan Bobcat.

2The acquisition of Bob-Cat Mowers

In early December, Doosan Bobcat has announced it plans to acquire the assets of the Bob-Cat Mowers, as well as the Steiner and Ryan brands of ground care equipment from Schiller Grounds Care, Inc.

The transaction is expected to close by Dec. 31, subject to closing conditions and approvals.

The new R-Series loaders represent a completely new approach to designing skid steers and compact track loaders for the equipment manufacturer.
