Sakai America has started shipping the latest version of its SV544-1 series vibratory single drum soil compactor to its dealer network.
As the latest update to the manufacturer’s best-selling 2.1-metre SV544 line, the SV544-1 introduces targeted powertrain improvements to enhance overall performance and efficiency on the job.
“The SV544 has long been our best-selling model, known for its proven Sakai reliability, ease-of-use and durability,” said Brad Belvin, Manager of Sales and Marketing at Sakai America. “With the SV544-1, we are improving that legacy by giving contractors more usable power, while simultaneously cutting fuel costs. It’s a practical update designed to support job site efficiency.”
The main update to the soil compactor is the integration of the new Cummins F3.8 Performance Series engine, which now delivers 148 hp.
The Cummins engine provides a 14 per cent increase in peak horsepower over the previous 130 hp model at the same rpm. As well, operators will experience a 23 per cent increase in peak torque, rising from 360 foot-pounds to 443 foot-pounds, delivered 100 rpm sooner for improved responsiveness under load.

Alongside this power increase, the new SV544-1 improves fuel efficiency by about 8 per cent and features an eco mode for further savings.
The engine operates with reduced noise levels and provides an 8.2 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by utilizing the proven Cummins Single Module.
To support these mechanical upgrades, Sakai engineers implemented a simplified ECM harness for improved machine integration as well as other packaging changes. The SV544-1 otherwise retains its familiar features operators, including straightforward analog controls that eliminate the need for failure-prone touch screens or multi-function panels.
The machine continues to come standard with user-selectable traction control, a heavy-duty centre hitch and long-life isolators engineered to last up to 5,000 hours.

The SAKAI SV544-1 Series is currently shipping to authorized Sakai dealers. The model line features operating weights starting from 11,070 kg and offers up to 63 per cent gradeability.
