Kobelco’s SK850LC-11 delivers heavy lifting with lower fuel consumption

Kobelco Construction Machinery’s new 85-tonne -11 Series Next Generation excavator blends performance with greater efficiency and is loaded with standard features.

The recently launched SK850LC-11 crawler excavator delivers the right combination of power and stability for large capacity applications.

The SK850LC-11 is equipped with a new 512 hp Isuzu Tier 4 Final engine with the power and torque to lift heavy loads and operate large tools with ease.

Power meets fuel savings with the combination of Kobelco’s boom to arm hydraulic regeneration system, Eco-Mode, auto idle stop and auto engine deceleration. Customers will find the SK850LC-11 lets you load more trucks and move more material more efficiently.

Hydraulic system

The highly efficient hydraulic system minimizes fuel consumption while maximizing power. Kobelco pilot-controlled hydraulics deliver a smooth response to operator input with a digging force of 90,598 foot-pounds and an arm force of 61,148-foot pounds.

The excavator also features auto warm-up, combination rotation with two-way nibbler breaker with case drain, ISO/BHL pattern changer and boom and arm safety valves.

The independent travel function allows the machine to lift, swing and carry while travelling. With the press of a switch, the machine dedicates one hydraulic pump to the travel system and one to all the other functions. This allows the -11 Series excavator to smoothly travel while having the ability to lift and swing heavy loads.

Heavy Lift and Power Boost (with unlimited time use) selection adds the power needed to get through tough conditions, and the in-cab hydraulic pressure release function allows customers to change work tools or hoses easily and safely.

Maintenance

A heavy-duty exterior includes a retractable undercarriage, three track guides, belly guards, swivel guard and folding cat walks. For added safety, the machine has six front and four rear LED work lights, exclusive rear swing flashers, battery disconnect switch and a heavy-duty Level II FOPS cab guard that opens for easy cleaning.

Additionally, the powerful reversible fan and removable clean out screens keep the machine running cool.

Improved ergonomics

Kobelco’s -11 Series improves in-cab ergonomics and safety features with more space and visibility. The cab includes a seven-way adjustable, heated air suspension seat that moves together with the armrests and hydraulic controls to reduce operator fatigue, provides excellent shock absorption and superior ride comfort.

The operator’s pilot levers move horizontally without arching of the wrist, while also providing shorter lever strokes to deliver a swifter, more precise movement.

Multiple HVAC vents are directed towards the operator to maximize comfort. On the right-side console, a jog dial that integrates multiple functions into a single user interface with the large 25-cm colour monitor. This easy-to-operate menu screen facilitates reading of important information including work mode, maintenance intervals and fuel consumption, as well as providing a 270-degree view from the machine’s standard three camera system.

The hydraulic flow-rate modes of the breaker, nibbler and rotating grapple are also now fully adjustable by the operator through the monitor, and the mode settings for other attachments, such as a hammer, can also be easily added or changed to customize the operator’s experience.

In addition, all internal switches and dials in the cab have LED backlighting to provide a bright, clear view in the dark.

The cab is equipped with an FM/AM, aux, Bluetooth, hands-free radio, smartphone holder, USB charger and a 12V power outlet. Adding to the standard features is Kobelco’s KOMEXS telematic system, K-LOAD weighing system.

Optional items include a front cab guard and removable counterweight.
